NORWOOD is a popular suburb five to ten minutes drive south of the Launceston CBD. Predominantly a residential area, there is a mixture of both large older-style family homes as well as modern homes, giving buyers ample choice.

If walking is your thing, NORWOOD offers a 3.1km sealed trial that loops around the Carr Villa Memorial Reserve and Cemetery; the perfect distance for a walk or quick jog, with just a few steep sections. NORWOOD is also within walking distance to Kings Meadows, a large shopping precinct and the area is regularly serviced by buses.
Nestled between NORWOOD and Newstead is the Punchbowl reserve, one of Launceston's best recreation parks. This park has a spectacular rhododendron plantation on the northern slope, a small gorge to the south and is popular for family picnics with BBQ facilities and a children's playground.
According to the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania, the median sales price of homes in the NORWOOD area for the 2010 March quarter was $345,000, up 3 per cent from the previous year.
